Triathlons at Fort Island Gulf Beach
Citrus County's saltwater gulf beach. This is a thousand foot beach with picnic facilities and concessions. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Boat ramp and dock accessibility. Open daylight to 9:30 PM. Turn west on Ft. Island Trail and follow to the end, approximately 9 miles. This is a free facility.
Located ten miles from downtown Crystal River, Fort Island Beach is located on the edge of West Central Florida's beautiful Nature Coast. Surrounded by pristine and ecologically vital estuaries, all plant and animal life is protected. Please do not remove, deface, mutilate or molest any natural resources.
This is where the three Crystal River Sprint Triathlons take place. In addition, the Naturecoast Twilight Triathlon, a nocturnal race, will be staged here for the third consecutive year.
